The period between January 20th and April 29, 2009 will be Obama's first 100 days in office, and many people having been putting a large emphasis on what he can accomplish during this beginning phase of his administration. Having only spent four years working on the national political level, he was questioned extensively during the campaign about his qualifications and readiness to lead our country, especially during the difficult times we are currently experiencing. Yet he won by a significant margin, and his overall approval rating is higher than any other incoming president in history.
Artists have always held a place in society in helping to process where we've been and envision where we might be headed. As we reach this 100th day milestone, we have called on the artistic community to visualize what our immediate and long-term future might look like in this new era. This could be an external perception on the world, such as the current political climate, or could be more personal in scope in terms of what the changing times mean to each of them.
